Foiling a cross border attempt to push drugs into India via Punjab, based on specific intelligence jointly developed by Border Security Force (BSF) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), a joint operation was conducted where in two motorcycle-borne narco smugglers were intercepted on NH- 54 near Dhariwal Town, District Gurdaspur (Punjab) on May 19th 2024.
Upon searching their belongings, Heroin worth Rs. 12.25 Crore was recovered, weighing 1.749 Kgs was seized from the duo and both of them were arrested. Preliminary investigation indicates that the drugs were smuggled from Pakistan via Drone dropping near International Border in Gurdaspur from where it was collected by the accused for its further delivery as per instructions of their Pakistan based handler.
The recovered Heroin has been seized and further investigation by DRI Zonal Office Ludhiana is in progress.
