The 4th edition of the All India Cycle Manufacturers Association (AICMA) awards held at Ludhiana on Saturday (August 30th) emerged as a landmark moment for India’s bicycle industry, honoring pioneers, innovators, and changemakers who continue to shape the sector’s future. The event brought together leading policymakers, industrialists, and stakeholders, underscoring the cycle industry’s growing role in driving employment, sustainability, and global competitiveness.

Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, praised the industry’s contribution in providing large-scale jobs, strengthening the economy, and promoting healthier lifestyles. He highlighted Ludhiana’s position as the hub of India’s cycle sector, noting its potential to lead the country towards green mobility and international leadership in cycle manufacturing.

Adding to this vision, Customs Commissioner IRS Nasim Arshi emphasized the importance of exports for the industry. He assured continued support to facilitate smoother international trade, enabling India to strengthen its global presence in the bicycle market.

Industry Voices Chart a Bold Future

The event saw participation from some of the most respected names in the cycling fraternity. Padma Shri Onkar Singh Pahwa (Chairman Avon Cycles) and Rishi Pahwa (Vice President of AICMA) reflected on the resilience and legacy of India’s cycle industry. Aditya Munjal, President of AICMA and Director of Hero Cycles, spoke about a forward-looking roadmap built on innovation, sustainability, and global outreach.

State Information Commissioner Harpreet Sandhu highlighted the role of knowledge-sharing and transparency in building a stronger industry ecosystem, while UCPMA President Harsimran Jeet Singh Lucky stressed the importance of collaboration and unity to maintain Punjab’s leadership as the cycle capital of India.

Recognizing Achievers and Innovators

The highlight of the evening was the felicitation of distinguished achievers whose work continues to inspire growth and innovation across the cycling landscape. This year’s awards went to:

  • Murali HR, Founder, Namma Cycle Foundation

  • Dr. Bhairvi Kalpesh, CEO & Founder, BYSC India

  • Harmanjit Singh, Managing Director, Navyug Namdhari Ecodrive

  • Atulya Mittal, Founder, Nexzu Mobility Ltd.

  • Harshita Jakhar, Rajasthan

Their contributions represent the diversity and dynamism of India’s cycle industry—from innovation and sustainability to entrepreneurship and sports. Among the many dignitaries present on the occasion were Vijay Munjal (Hero Eco), Upkar Singh Ahuja (President CICU), SC Ralhan (President FIEO), SK Rai (Managing Director), Gurmeet Singh Kular (president FICO), GS Dhillon (Udan Media), Jatinder Mittal.
