ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦਾਧੀ ਜਲਿ ਮੁਈ ਜਲਿ ਜਲਿ ਕਰੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੀਤਲ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਲੈ ਨ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਭੇਖੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਬੁਝਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਹੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ ਵਰਮੀ ਮਾਰੀ ਸਾਪੁ ਨਾ ਮਰੈ ਤਿਉ ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥ ਸੁਖਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਜਾ ਆਘਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਚਹਿ ਪਚਾਇ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨੀ ਪਾਇਅੜੇ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ॥ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਭੁਖਾ ॥ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਏ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖਾ ॥ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਭਲੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਚਿੰਤ ਪਰਾਈ ਚੁਖਾ ॥ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਮੁਖਾ ॥੬॥

सलोक मः ३ ॥ त्रिसना दाधी जलि मुई जलि जलि करे पुकार ॥ सतिगुर सीतल जे मिलै फिरि जलै न दूजी वार ॥ नानक विणु नावै निरभउ को नही जिचरु सबदि न करे वीचारु ॥१॥ मः ३ ॥ भेखी अगनि न बुझई चिंता है मन माहि ॥ वरमी मारी सापु ना मरै तिउ निगुरे करम कमाहि ॥ सतिगुरु दाता सेवीऐ सबदु वसै मनि आइ ॥ मनु तनु सीतलु सांति होइ त्रिसना अगनि बुझाइ ॥ सुखा सिरि सदा सुखु होइ जा विचहु आपु गवाइ ॥ गुरमुखि उदासी सो करे जि सचि रहै लिव लाइ ॥ चिंता मूलि न होवई हरि नामि रजा आघाइ ॥ नानक नाम बिना नह छूटीऐ हउमै पचहि पचाइ ॥२॥ पउड़ी ॥ जिनी हरि हरि नामु धिआइआ तिनी पाइअड़े सरब सुखा ॥ सभु जनमु तिना का सफलु है जिन हरि के नाम की मनि लागी भुखा ॥ जिनी गुर कै बचनि आराधिआ तिन विसरि गए सभि दुखा ॥ ते संत भले गुरसिख है जिन नाही चिंत पराई चुखा ॥ धनु धंनु तिना का गुरू है जिसु अंम्रित फल हरि लागे मुखा ॥६॥

Shalok, Third Mehl: Consumed by desires, the world is burning and dying; burning and burning, it cries out. But if it meets with the cooling and soothing True Guru, it does not burn any longer. Guru Nanak ji says to himself, O Nanak, without the Name, and without contemplating the Word of the Shabad, no one becomes fearless. ||1|| Third Mehl: Wearing ceremonial robes, the fire is not quenched, and the mind is filled with anxiety. Destroying the snake’s hole, the snake is not killed; it is just like doing deeds without a Guru. Serving the Giver, the True Guru, the Shabad comes to abide in the mind. The mind and body are cooled and soothed; peace ensues, and the fire of desire is quenched. The supreme comforts and lasting peace are obtained, when one eradicates ego from within. He alone becomes a detached Gurmukh, who lovingly focuses his consciousness on the True Lord. Anxiety does not affect him at all; he is satisfied and satiated with the Name of the Lord. O Nanak, without the Naam, no one is saved; they are utterly ruined by egotism. ||2|| Pauree: Those who meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, obtain all peace and comforts. Fruitful is the entire life of those, who hunger for the Name of the Lord in their minds. Those who worship the Lord in adoration, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, forget all their pains and suffering. Those Gursikhs are good Saints, who care for nothing other than the Lord. Blessed, blessed is their Guru, whose mouth tastes the Ambrosial Fruit of the Lord’s Name. ||6||

ਅਰਥ:- ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਸਾੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸੜ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਵਿਲਕ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ; ਜੇ ਇਹ ਠੰਡ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਨਾਹ ਸੜੇ; (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦ ਤਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੇ ਤਦ ਤਕ (ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਤੇ) ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ (ਇਹ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਸਹਿਮ ਹੀ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।1Hukamnama sri darbar sahib amritsar date 02 03 2026
